LADIES DAY 2021

We are very happy to report that our Ladies Day 2.0 event went ahead last Saturday and was a resounding success.

Thank you to everyone who came along in their Touch of Green ready to have a great day.  Our spirits were high and it was amazing to see so many familiar smiling faces keen to catch up after the lockdown period.

We didn’t have rugby (cricket instead!) but we had the wonderful Gina and Terry who entertained us with their musical talent and had the dance floor in full swing.  Thank you Gina and Terry we had an absolute ball and everyone is raving about how much fun they had on the dance floor.

Thank you to all of our sponsors involved in the day. Cuppa Joes for treating our Queen of the Green Jude Tynan and her husband Terry to a delicious breakfast before Jude headed over to the Beauty And The Fox salon to have her hair and makeup done – thank you Beauty and the Fox. Jude you were a beautiful first Queen of The Green, we hope you enjoyed your special day!

Thank you to Amanda McKenzie and team for setup and running the bar and catering on the day.  Thanks to Styx Brewery,  Kellie from Lillies n Limes for our grazing boxes and Banlaw for sponsoring our pizzas at the end of the day. Thank you to our prize donations, Jewellery Affair, NCYC, and many more, thanks to our volunteers who helped set up and check everyone in, and everyone else who contributed to the day.

A HUGE thank you to Jenny Hawes who put so much time and effort into organising the day (twice!).  What a success Jen, thank you.

What a fabulous day!  Thank you for your support.  We cannot wait to do it all again next year!

Sponsors Day at The Greens

Last weekend in possibly the worst ever weather conditions, our sponsors braved the elements and joined us in the Green Room for our annual sponsors day function.

The Green Room was the perfect vantage point to stay warm and watch some wet weather rugby! We had a wonderful day, where our sponsors at a senior and junior level had an opportunity to mingle, network and enjoy some laughs and of course some rugby.

This year for the first time we had our sponsors hand out jerseys to our 1st grade team before the game.  We randomly selected 15 sponsors who were then provided with an opportunity to present our current 1st XV with their match day jersey. A brief overview from coach Jamie Lind highlighted furthermore the positive direction of the club. It was a great opportunity for both the players, senior coaching group and sponsors to appreciate all the contributions that go into to making a season successful both on and off the field.

To top the day off our Greens boys then went on to deliver our sponsors a win over Southern Beaches!

Thank you again to all involved in delivering a successful day.

Dads and Lads Event 2021

On Sunday 16th May, players, family, friends and others within the community came out of the woodwork to head to Townson on a sunny afternoon to witness some ancient rugby skills on display.

The Dads and Lads match was a fantastic afternoon, and a wonderful chance for dads who have watched countless games of their son’s rugby, to be able to take the field together.

It was great to see the younger guys embrace the event and enjoy the day as well. After a few ‘tough’ games, it was off to the Green Room to share tales of old and new and reminisce of a time when we still had it. The Green Room was alive with excitement and the spirit of rugby was the winner on the day.

Our intention is for this to be an annual event and to be able to welcome new recruits as their young blokes turn 18. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the day, special mention to our sponsors for allowing this day to go forward.

We must express our sympathy to Nick King who unfortunately came off worse for wear on the day. We hope you are doing ok Nick.

Cheers,
Jockie Wilson

A special thank you to Stewart Hazell for coming along and taking these photos that we will hold as great memories of the day!

President’s Lunch With David Campese

The 2019 Presidents Lunch was a well received and successful event for the club. This year we moved away from the traditional business style Friday lunch to a more relaxed Sunday afternoon event at the new Green Room which set an excellent precedent for the use of the space for such events.

The Burwood catering and assistance in making the event happen was flawless. The afternoon entailed some great conversation from the president, players and coaches guided by Gerry Collins (experienced sports commentator). Guest speaker David Campese was entertaining, providing  insights on his career, coaching, and the game of rugby, allowing the club to interact with him in an open and relaxed manner and share our views on the game over a few cold drinks.

A great day was had by all.
