Junior Touch Comp

Merewether Carlton Junior Touch Comp
Each year, the Greens Juniors host a Touch Football competition open to players and teams from across the Newcastle region. Hosted at Gibbs Bros Oval in Merewether, the comp runs over two weeknights (Tuesday and Wednesday) throughout Term 4. Teams of up to 10 players can register to take part, so grab your school mates, team mates or meet some new friends to play in our fast and friendly games!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is the competition run?
The competition starts on the first Tuesday of term 4 (U10s & U12s) and Wednesday 16 October (U8s, U14s & U16s). We will be playing 8 rounds and then a finals round in Week 9.

How many players in a team?
There are 6 players on the field at a time, with a maximum of 10 players in total registered in the team.

How do I register?
Registration is now closed.

Why can’t I register as an individual?
Our touch comp is run by a team of volunteers. Individual players can contact our coordinators at  mcjtouch@gmail.com and be put in touch with other players or teams looking to be paired with individual players.

Can I use my Active Kids Voucher?
Unfortunately, no. Because we choose to register teams only, and also give you the flexibility to choose the number of players in your team (which may vary the cost per player), we have chosen not to register as an Active Kids provider.

What does it cost to register?
Team registration is $600 per team. Most teams will manage this by collecting $60 from each player, and then having the team manager register the whole team.

What does this include?
The team registration fee includes the costs associated with supplying a referee for each game, game day shirts for the team, player insurance and presentation day costs.

Can I help?
You bet! We would love some help on game day setting up the ground.

How long do the games go for?
It’s a 25 min game, no half time.

Can the teams be mixed?
They can be – we place mixed teams in the boys comp usually (unless there are considerably more girls than boys)

We have other activities on that afternoon, what time will my child be playing?
The draw will depend on the number of teams in each age group. Keep an eye on the touch facebook page for further information.
