Ladies Day 2024

As we wrap up an epic Ladies Day event I wanted to make another big shoutout to our sponsor Lyndall Allan and all the Salt Property team. It was a delight to partner with you for this event!

With 170 fabulous ladies in attendance and exclusive access to the Green Room, we knew we were in for a treat. We kicked things off with a cocktail on arrival, and it set the mood perfectly for what was to come.

A huge shoutout to Natina Fresh Grazing and The Prince for keeping our tummies happy with their delicious spreads of grazing platters and pizzas. Seriously, nobody left hungry!

Then, onto the games! We had everything from a wild scavenger hunt to the classic balloon race that brought out our competitive sides in the best way possible. I think most people heard the laughter and cheers!

And of course, we can’t forget about crowning our 2024 Queen of the Green—Kate Streatfeild. It was fabulous that Yvette Cavanagh was there to pass over her crown. Special thanks to Cuppa Joe, Goldie’s Designer Dress Hire, and Beauty & the Fox our Queen looked absolutely stunning.

Last but not least, a massive thank you to our fantastic bar staff who kept the drinks flowing all afternoon and into the evening. And our DJ who kept the party going!

Cheers to all the incredible women who make MCRC the best you’ve ever seen! It was great to celebrate your contribution to this club on Ladies Day.

Can’t wait ’til next year!

300 Club Event A Success

Last Sunday we held our 300 Club event, the first one in a few years and it didn’t disappoint.  Our Green Room was the perfect location and the room was full of smiling faces.

Up for grabs was $10,000 in cash for 1st prize, $1,000 for 2nd & $500 for 3rd.  We got our last 4 ticket holders on the tables for the countdown, Rowdy (Ryan Wilson) was eliminated first, then Nicole Elliot was prized with 3rd, leaving Amanda Aloupis and Antony Taylor in the running for the cash.

Antony was awarded the $10,000 and generously donated $1,000 to the bar for everyone to celebrate.

I’d like to thank Alicia Frost & Marty Shannon for putting on such an amazing day supported by a host of volunteers like Kate Streatfeild, Mitchell Frost on the draw and Chris Neader & Ange Morgan on the front door.

Special mention to Kenny T for bringing energy & entertainment in calling out the unlucky tickets.

Looking forward to the 2024 edition of the 300 Club & thanks for everyone’s support in selling it out.

Shout out to Ava Barretto who captured the day so well in these photos.  If you are in need of a photographer you should look Ava up, here are links to her socials so you can give her a follow. Barretto Pix –  Facebook and instagram.

Don’t forget that the Green Room is available for your next Function! To learn more about this versatile function space that can be used for 21sts, engagement parties, 40ths and corporate events, view more information on our website here.

Greens Presentation 2022

Last Friday night we celebrated our Presentation night for 2022.  After a very successful campaign, culminating with a P1 and P3 Major premiership & Minor Premierships in P1, 2 and 3, it was always going to be a great evening with around 140 players, coaches, partners and parents in attendance.

The Newcastle Yacht Club was the venue and the weather was perfect. Everyone dressed to impress and a great night was had by all.

The club would also like to thank the coaching staff, team managers, medical staff, our S&C team and our tireless volunteers for their efforts this year and another congratulations to the below award recipients.

Noel Burt Fundraising Update

Our fundraising event for Noel Burt is just around the corner and we wanted to update you on how you can contribute any amount big or small to help us buy a car for Noel.
As most of you know, Noel Burt became a C4-5 Quadriplegic while playing rugby for Merewether Carlton against Maitland at Lorn Park on the 6th June 1987.

Noel has spent the last 35 years confined to a wheelchair and his home. His dream is to be able to explore Newcastle once again in his own vehicle. We are raising money to purchase a Kia Carnival to be converted for wheelchair access for Noel.

You can contribute to help Noel in the following ways:

  • purchasing a ticket to our fundraising event on the 5th November by emailing digital@merewethercarlton.com.au. The event was sold out however we were able to open up the whole Yacht club for our event so more tickets are available. It will be a great night with over 200 tickets sold.
  • making a tax deductible donation via our fundraising page on the ASF website here.
  • Or by bidding on one of the Live Auctions we have running right up until the event.  We are lucky enough to have had some amazing donations such as an artwork from James Drinkwater, signed sporting memorabilia and a Fine Dining Experience.

We hope we can achieve this goal in helping Noel and appreciate any support you can give.
