Your Club Captain
During the 2022 season Eli McCulloch was voted 2022 Club Captain.
Eli joined the Greens in 2010 at the age of 10 as a robust winger. In 2022 he has now established himself as the Greens first grade half back and part of their leadership group. We had a chat to Eli:
As a junior what did you look forward to in years to come playing senior rugby “My dream as a junior was always to play first grade and end up winning a first grade competition. On most weekends I would travel to the games with Dad and be a ball boy with all the grades along with Rory Ryan, I couldn’t get enough of the excitement of the Club in general and what it meant to be part of the Greens.”
What makes the Greens a club you want to play for week in and week out? “It would definitely be the people that are involved in the club and to represent them week in, week out at the highest level and do the best I can for the Club, its players and supporters.”
What does it mean to you to be voted Club Captain by the playing group? “First, it is a privilege to be held in high esteem by my fellow players and a great honour to represent the playing group, its members and supporters in the best way possible. Also, to be a role model to the younger generation of Greens players coming through the junior ranks.”
What do you hope to achieve this year as part of Merewether Carlton? “To help First Grade win the Premiership and seal another Club Championship for our members and supporters.”
